PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Newground Social Investment, Seattle, WA. - Vice President, 2002–present. Registered Investment Advisor: socially conscious asset management, shareholder advocacy, portfolio guideline development, proxy voting services.

Shoreline Community College, Shoreline, WA. - Associate Faculty in Economics, 2002–present. Visiting lecturer in economics, including macro and micro economics, market structures and models of production, consumption and distribution.

Antioch University Seattle, Seattle, WA. - Adjunct Professor, Graduate Programs in Education, 2001–2002. Supervised Masters-level students in developing programs to bring the study of globalization into the K–12 classroom.

Global Source Education, Seattle, WA. - Co-Founder, Director, The Trade and Human Rights Project, 1999–2002. Responsible for design, facilitation and administration of 10 national-level training programs for educators on globalization, corporate accountability and human rights.

Research and Policy Reform Center, New York, NY. - Consultant, 1997–1999. Designed and led campaign in support of the Seattle Burma Law. Acted as shareholder advocate at Unocal Corporation with Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers.

Free Burma Coalition, Washington, DC. - Director of Public Education, 1995–1999. Developed and executed numerous corporate campaigns in support of Burma ’s democracy movement, including PepsiCo, Disney, Eddie Bauer, and Northwest Airlines (all of which subsequently severed their ties to Burma ). Often served as international spokesman for this movement, which comprised more than 125 chapters.

Soros Foundation, Open Society Institute ( Burma Project), New York, NY. - Consultant, 1995–1997. Advised Free Burma movement on campaign strategy and message.

FTB Incorporated, Seattle, WA. - President, 1986–1995. Manufactured, imported, exported, developed patent and trademark for several products. Marketing outreach included product placements on QVC, Home Shopping Network, Good Housekeeping magazine, Food and Wine, and others.
